Volunteer Coordinator –   Oversees sending out volunteer request forms to 200 former volunteers.  As volunteer forms come in, make assignments to fill 320 positions.  Mail out volunteer assignments letter with job descriptions.  Plan and coordinate the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.

Postering Coordinator – Distributes or coordinates the distribution of posters, postcards, & flyers to appropriate locations.

Family Fun Walk (FFW) Coordinator – Suggest activities, refreshments, resources, and entertainment needed at FFW checkpoints.  Emcee the kick-off of the Family Fun Walk.  Visit the FFW checkpoints during event to ensure all is going well with entertainment and refreshments.

On-site Sales Coordinator – Plans the layout of the DWF specialties sales table, and guides the volunteers assigned to staff the DWF sales table.  Suggests merchandise to procure for sale by the DWF.  Work 1st shift every day to make sure set up is good.

Trail Masters (2 needed – Saturday Routes & Sunday Routes) – Using route maps and instructions from past DWF’s will develop routes for the 2008 DWF.  (Saturday – 6, 10, 21, 32, & 42 km routes; Sunday – 6, 10, 21, & 32 km routes.  Identify checkpoints approximately 5 to 6 km apart, and secure approval of the property owners.  Identify the need for permits & insurance.  Prepare draft route instructions.  Organize the trail marking and trail stripping teams and assign and instruct them in their duties.

Asst Trail Master (2 needed – Saturday Routes & Sunday Routes) – Assists the Trail Master in all phases of trail development, map & Instructions development, and organizing and working with the trail marking & stripping teams.

Expo Coordinator – Will be the contact for the exhibitors, assign booths, finalize layout with the hotel, and be the on-site coordinator for the Expo throughout the weekend.

Organize & Manage Ceremonies & Entertainment – Helps to select, schedule, and monitor entertainers or entertainment groups.  Helps to design the DWF ceremonies, and to secure boy scouts, ROTC and other groups who participate in opening and closing ceremonies.

In order for the Festival to grow and to continue to be an important contributor to the culture of our community, we must add members to the Core Committee in order to make everyone’s work manageable. Many people have contributed to the festival over the years, and some of those have had to retire from service. We are proud of our work! Our festival has been nominated as a finalist for a Southwest Washington Tourism Award in the category of Outstanding Event for 2006.
